Make Me A Blessing Lyrics, Story, and Video

Make Me A Blessing Lyrics

1 Out in the highways and byways of life,
Many are weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,
Making the sorrowing glad.

Refrain:
Make me a blessing, Make me a blessing.
Out of my life may Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray.
Make me a blessing to someone today.

2 Tell the sweet story of Christ and his love,
Tell of his pow’r to forgive;
Others will trust him if only you prove
True, ev’ry moment you live. [Refrain]

3 Give as ’twas given to you in your need,
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed,
Unto your mission be true. [Refrain]

Make Me A Blessing Hymn Story

“Make Me a Blessing” is a hymn that was composed by Ira Bishop Wilson. It was first published in 1909. The tune used for this hymn is called “Schuler”.

Making Me a Blessing is a hymn that calls on us to be useful and helpful in this world.

This reminds me of Matthew 5:13-14 where Jesus says we are the salt of the world and that salt that loses its taste then it has no value.

Just as salt makes the food we eat taste better; we too are called upon to make the world a better place for all its inhabitants.

The bible also calls us the light of the world. Just as the light will get rid of the darkness, we too should help to bring God’s truth to people and, in that way, get rid of the darkness of sin.
