Make Me A Channel of Your Peace Lyrics, Story, and Video

Make Me A Channel of Your Peace Lyrics

Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace.
Where There Is Hatred Let Me Bring Your Love.
Where There Is Injury, Your Pardon, Lord
And Where There’s Doubt, True Faith In You.

Oh, Master Grant That I May Never Seek
So Much To Be Consoled As To Console
To Be Understood As To Understand
To Be Loved As To Love With All My Soul.

Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace
Where There’s Despair In Life, Let Me Bring Hope
Where There Is Darkness, Only Light
And Where There’s Sadness, Ever Joy.

Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace
It Is In Pardoning That We Are Pardoned
In Giving To All Men That We Receive
And In Dying That We’re Born To Eternal Life.

Make Me A Channel of Your Peace Hymn Story

“Make Me A Channel of Your Peace” is a hymn that is an adaptation of the famous Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Though this prayer is attributed to St Francis no one knows for sure if it was really him who composed this prayer.

This is because, firstly, it is not found in any of St. Francis’s writings and secondly the present prayer can only be traced back to 1912.

In that year, this prayer in French was published in a Catholic spiritual magazine called La Clochette. No name was given in that publication.

Since then it has become very popular and was used widely during World War I and World War II. This prayer has been called a prayer for peace.
