Honey in the Rock

Honey in the Rock Lyrics

1 O my brother, do you know the Savior,
Who is wondrous, kind, and true?
He’s the Rock of your salvation!
There’s honey in the Rock for you.

Refrain:
Oh, there’s honey in the Rock, my brother;
There’s honey in the Rock for you.
Leave your sins for the Blood to cover;
There’s honey in the Rock for you.

2 Have you tasted that the Lord is gracious?
Do you walk in the way that’s new?
Have you drunk from the living fountain?
There’s honey in the Rock for you. [Refrain]

3 Do you pray unto God the Father,
“What wilt Thou have me to do?”
Never fear, He will surely answer,
There’s honey in the Rock for you. [Refrain]

4 Then go out through the streets and byways,
Preach the Word to the many or few;
Say to every fallen brother,
There’s honey in the Rock for you. [Refrain]

Honey in the Rock Hymn Story

“Honey in the Rock” is a hymn that was composed by Frederick Arthur Graves. It was first published in 1895. I understand that there is a modern hymn known by the same name. I will try to get the lyrics for that modern hymn too soon.

This is the first song I have heard that talks of honey in the rock. It is however clear from the song that the honey is referring to sweetness of the rock, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

You have nothing to fear by accepting Christ as your personal savior. He is a sweet Lord, and he wants the best for you.

And if you happen to go through some tough times, he will go with you through those challenging times.
