“O the Blood of Jesus” is a traditional Christian hymn whose authorship is unknown.
This hymn reminds use of the power of the blood of Jesus. Without the shedding of this blood there would be no salvation.
In the Old Testament the blood of sheep and other clean animals had to be shed for forgiveness.
That blood was not sufficient as it only pointed to the real sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is only the blood of a real perfect being that was sufficient to take care of our sins.
And because this blood and sacrifice has been given, we do not need any animal sacrifices.
