We Walk by Faith Lyrics

We Walk by Faith Lyrics

1 We walk by faith, and not by sight,
no gracious words we hear
from him who spoke as none e’er spoke,
but we believe him near.

2 We may not touch his hands and side,
nor follow where he trod;
but in his promise we rejoice
and cry, “My Lord and God!”

3 Help then, O Lord, our unbelief;
and may our faith abound
to call on you when you are near,
and seek where you are found.

4 For you, O resurrected Lord,
are found in means divine:
beneath the water and the Word,
beneath the bread and wine.

5 Lord, when our life of faith is done,
in realms of clearer light
we may behold you as you are
with full and endless sight.

We Walk by Faith Hymn Story

“We Walk by Faith” is a Christian hymn that was composed by Henry Alford. It was first published in 1844. This song will remind you of the story of Thomas in the bible.

This story of Thomas is found in John 20:

“24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
