All the Way My Savior Leads Me Lyrics
Author: Fanny J. Crosby (1820-1915)
All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my guide?
Heavenly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell;
For I know whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.
All the way my Savior leads me;
Cheers each winding path I tread;
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread;
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo, a spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo, a spring of joy I see.
All the way my Savior leads me;
O the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above;
When I wake to life immortal,
Wing my flight to realms of day,
This my song through endless ages,
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages,
Jesus led me all the way.
All the Way My Savior Leads Me Hymn History
All the Way My Savior Leads Me is yet another powerful hymn written by Fanny J Crosby. The famous author wrote this hymn around 1875.
Its first publication was in 1875 in a collection of songs edited by Dr Robert Lowry and W Howard Doane. The tune for this hymn was provided by Dr Robert Lowry.
The song is based on Deuteronomy 32:12 “So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him”.
The words of this song came about when Fanny Crosby was in dire financial straits and desperately needed some money.
As usual she prayed about it and minutes later a gentleman gave $5 which was the exact amount she needed.
She was convinced that this was a direct answer to prayer.
It is from this incident that Fanny J Croby came up with the poem, “All the way my savior leads me” which was later put to music by Robert Lowry.
