I Am Resolved Lyrics
1 I am resolved no longer to linger,
charmed by the world’s delight;
things that are higher, things that are nobler,
these have allured my sight.
I will hasten to Him,
hasten so glad and free;
Jesus, greatest, highest,
I will come to Thee.
2 I am resolved to go to the Savior,
leaving my sin and strife;
He is the true one, He is the just one,
He has the words of life. [Refrain]
3 I am resolved, and who will go with me?
Come, friends, without delay;
taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit,
we’ll walk the heavenly way. [Refrain]
I Am Resolved Hymn Story
“I Am Resolved” is a Christian hymn that was composed by Palmer Hartsough. While Palmer Hartsough provided the text, Frederick Augustus Fillmore added the music to the text and the tune is called, “RESOLUTION”.
Palmer Hartsough was born on 7th May 1844 in Michigan. He was a Baptist minister of the gospel and pastored in Ontario, Michigan. He also at one point acted as music direct at the Bethel Mission.
This song expresses the determination of a sinner who is now resolved to follow Christ as his personal savior.
He or she is resolved to leave his sins behind and follow Christ and the Word of God.
That should definitely be the goal for all Christians.
Mark 8:34-37 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul?
