Who was Charles Wesley

Charles Wesley and his brother John Wesley are two of the most prolific Christian hymn writers in history. Over the 70 years of his life on earth he composed thousands of hymns.

He was born on 18th December 1707 in Epworth, Lincolnshire, England. Besides being a hymn writer, Charles Wesley was also a clergyman who with his brother John started what we now call the Methodist church. It first started as a movement within the Church of England. Charles passed away on 29th March 1788
