Fanny Crosby (1820 – 1915), an American, is one of the most prolific hymn writers in the history of Christian hymns. She is reported to have composed more than eight thousand hymns during her life on earth.
Dozens of her songs are still sung today in various Christian denominations. She was blind and became blind due to a mistake by a medical doctor when she was just a toddler.
She, however, looked at her misfortune in a positive light as it helped her to memorize significant scripture passages and have time for composing hymns.
