Precious Memories Lyrics, Story, and Video

Precious Memories Lyrics

1 Precious memories, unseen angels,
Sent from somewhere to my soul;
How they linger, ever near me,
And the sacred past unfold.

Refrain:
Precious memories, how they linger,
How they ever flood my soul;
In the stillness of the midnight,
Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

2 Precious father, loving mother,
Fly across the lonely years;
And old home scenes of my childhood,
In fond memory appear. [Refrain]

3 As I travel on life’s pathway,
Know not what the years may hold;
As I ponder, hope grows fonder,
Precious mem’ries flood my soul. [Refrain]

Precious Memories Hymn Story

“Precious Memories” is a hymn that was written by John Braselton Fillmore Wright and Lonnie B Combs.

Wright was born on 21st February 1877 in Tennessee. He wrote over two hundred songs, starting at the age of fifteen.

On how he wrote these hymns, Wright responded by saying, “I write by inspiration, only when the mood comes on the words and melody flow from my soul like the water from a babbling brook; without this inspiration I could not write; ‘Precious Memories’ was born in the midnight hours as I bathed by pillow with tears, likewise all my songs came through life’s severest tests.”
