Jesus Calls Us Lyrics
1 Jesus calls us o’er the tumult
of our life’s wild, restless sea;
day by day his sweet voice soundeth,
saying, “Christian, follow me!”
2 Jesus calls us from the worship
of the vain world’s golden store,
from each idol that would keep us,
saying, “Christian, love me more!”
3 In our joys and in our sorrows,
days of toil and hours of ease,
still he calls, in cares and pleasures,
“Christian, love me more than these!”
4 Jesus calls us! By thy mercies,
Savior, may we hear thy call,
give our hearts to thine obedience,
serve and love thee best of all.
Jesus Calls Us Hymn Story
“Jesus Calls Us” is a hymn that was written by Cecil Frances Alexander in 1852. This song reminds me that in the tumult of life’s wild and restlessness, Jesus is still calling.
He is still calling me to follow him. Living in the west I know for sure how life can indeed be restless as we all strive to meet our basic needs and even luxuries.
I see people working two jobs to meet their needs. It is quite easy in such a situation to forget God. But as the song says, Jesus’ call can go over this tumult and reach us.
Let us respond positively to this call from Jesus.
